Will the parade still happen if the weather is bad?

Yes. The parade is indoors, so even if the pre-parade events are reduced, the parade itself will happen despite weather conditions.

Can I bring my pet to the parade?

No, unless you have received approval from the Champaign County Nursing Home in advance. They have a program for visiting pets.

Can I bring food or candy to the parade to hand out to residents?

No. Many residents have restricted diets for medical reasons, and we do not want to risk harming someone.

Can I take pictures or video of the parade?

Yes, as long as you are not recording the faces of nursing home residents. We do not have signed waivers from any resident approving recording them.

How long will the parade last?

From the time the parade steps off at 10 am until we return to the lobby, it will take no longer than 45 minutes. If you only walk the parade route, you can be out of the parking lot by 11 am. That being said, many participants interact with residents and choose to be there longer. That only happens if you decide to do so.

I'm not comfortable in a nursing home. Can I still be involved?

Absolutely! Click on the "Serving Opportunities" button for more information.
